If you love animals and live in Cyprus, you can earn a meaningful income caring for other people's pets. Dog walking, pet sitting, overnight boarding, daycare, and drop-in visits are all services that pet owners in Cyprus need — and are willing to pay for.
This guide covers what you can realistically earn, how to get started, and how to choose the right platform.
What can you actually earn?
Let us do the maths with real Cyprus market prices.
Scenario 1: Part-time dog walker (weekday mornings)
You walk three dogs per morning, five days per week. Each walk is thirty minutes at EUR 15.
- 3 walks × EUR 15 × 5 days = EUR 225/week
- Monthly: approximately EUR 900
- After 12% Tinies commission: EUR 792/month
Scenario 2: Part-time pet sitter (evenings and weekends)
You take two boarding dogs per week (Thursday to Sunday, three nights each) at EUR 25/night.
- 2 dogs × EUR 25 × 3 nights = EUR 150/week
- Monthly: approximately EUR 600
- After 12% commission: EUR 528/month
Scenario 3: Full-time provider (walks + boarding + daycare)
You walk three dogs per morning (EUR 15 each), take one daycare dog three days per week (EUR 20/day), and board one dog every other weekend (EUR 25/night × 2 nights).
- Walks: EUR 225/week
- Daycare: EUR 60/week
- Boarding: EUR 25/week (averaged)
- Total: EUR 310/week
- Monthly: approximately EUR 1,240
- After 12% commission: EUR 1,091/month
These are conservative estimates using median Cyprus prices. Providers who build a strong review history and offer premium services (training, grooming add-ons, specialised care) can earn EUR 1,500-2,000+ per month.
How commission affects your earnings
The percentage a platform takes from your bookings matters more than you think. Here is how the same EUR 25/night boarding booking plays out across platforms:
| Platform | Commission | You keep | Over 100 bookings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tinies | 12% | EUR 22.00 | EUR 2,200 |
| Rover | ~20% | EUR 20.00 | EUR 2,000 |
| PetBacker (new) | 25% | EUR 18.75 | EUR 1,875 |
| PetBacker (established) | 15-20% | EUR 20-21.25 | EUR 2,000-2,125 |
On PetBacker, new providers start at a 25% commission rate. It drops as you complete more bookings — but only to 15% after 3,001 jobs. And if PetBacker discovers you are also working on another platform, the commission jumps to 40%.
On Tinies, the rate is 12% from day one. No tiered penalties. No exclusivity requirements. You are free to work on as many platforms as you like.
The commission difference between 12% and 25% on EUR 1,000/month of bookings is EUR 130/month — that is EUR 1,560/year more in your pocket.
How to get started on Tinies
Step 1: Sign up at tinies.app/for-providers
Create your account and select the Provider role.
Step 2: Complete the onboarding wizard
The wizard guides you through setting up your profile. You will be asked to:
- Upload a clear photo of yourself (not your pet — owners want to see the person they are trusting)
- Write a bio about your experience with animals, your home setup, and why you love pet care (minimum 200 characters, but more is better)
- Select which services you offer and set your prices (we show you what other providers in your area charge)
- Upload photos of your home, garden, and any spaces where pets will stay
- Set your weekly availability
- Define which types of pets you accept and your maximum capacity
- Upload a government-issued ID for verification
- Choose your cancellation policy (Flexible, Moderate, or Strict)
Step 3: Complete the safety course
Tinies requires all providers to complete a basic safety course before their profile goes live. It covers pet first aid, emergency procedures, how to handle anxious or reactive animals, and platform policies. The course takes about thirty minutes and earns you a certification badge on your profile.
Step 4: Get verified
Our team reviews your ID within twenty-four to forty-eight hours. Once verified, your profile appears in search results and you can start receiving bookings.
Step 5: Get your first booking
Your first booking is the hardest. Here are tips to make it happen faster:
- Price competitively for your first few bookings (you can raise prices after you have reviews)
- Write a detailed, warm bio — owners read bios before they read prices
- Upload at least five high-quality photos
- Respond to messages quickly — your response rate is visible on your profile
- Offer a free meet-and-greet to build trust before the first booking
What makes a great provider profile
We have seen what works. The providers who get the most bookings have:
A real, friendly photo. Not a selfie in sunglasses. Not a photo of their dog. A clear, well-lit photo of themselves smiling.
A detailed bio. Not "I love animals." Instead: "I have been caring for dogs and cats for five years. I live in a ground-floor flat in Limassol with a private garden. I am home most days and have experience with senior dogs, puppies, and cats with medical needs."
Multiple photos of their space. Owners want to see where their pet will be. A garden with a fence. A clean living room with a dog bed. A cat-proofed balcony.
Competitive but not cheap pricing. Undercutting the market attracts bargain hunters, not loyal clients. Price at or slightly below the area average to start, then raise once you have five or more reviews.
Fast responses. Providers who respond within an hour get significantly more bookings than those who take a day. Turn on notifications.
Why Tinies
Beyond the lower commission, there are structural reasons why Tinies is worth your time:
You are funding rescue. Ninety percent of every commission goes to animal rescue in Cyprus. Your profile shows the cumulative impact of your bookings: "Your bookings have generated EUR X in donations to rescue." Owners see this and feel good about booking through the platform. It is a loyalty driver that benefits everyone.
Training and certifications. Complete additional courses to earn badges that appear on your profile. These signal professionalism and build trust.
GPS walk tracking. For dog walking, the platform provides live GPS tracking that owners can follow in real-time. After the walk, a summary map with distance and duration is saved to the booking record. This is the kind of transparency that makes owners rebook.
The Tinies Guarantee. Every booking is covered by the Tinies Guarantee — up to EUR 2,000 for veterinary costs if a pet is injured, and up to EUR 500 for property damage. This protects you and the owner.
